Passport Agencies

Our passport agencies and centers process routine and expedited applications, and are open by appointment only for customers who have urgent international travel within 14 calendar days or need a foreign visa within 28 calendar days.

  • If you applied by mail or in person, the first two digits of your application locator number allow you to identify which agency or center is working on your application. Find application locator number information on this page.
  • Passport agencies and centers are operated by the U.S. Department of State and are different than passport acceptance facilities which may include post offices, libraries, and local government offices.
  • You must call us to make an appointment to visit a passport agency or center. We offer two types of appointments: Life-or-Death Emergency Service and Urgent Travel Service.
  • We do not charge a fee to make an appointment. If you are asked to pay for an appointment, you should consider the request to be fraudulent. We are not affiliated with any third-party appointment booking services. We may not be able to honor appointments booked via third parties. Do not attempt to book duplicate appointments.
  • You can also find contact information for each location on this page if you need to respond to a letter we sent you.
