Get a Passport On or After Probation or Parole

Getting a new passport and asking for us to return your passport are 2 different processes and depend if your passport is valid or expired.
Apply for a new U.S. passport
Apply in Person for a new U.S. passport and include additional documents if:
- Your passport was sent to us by a court or law enforcement agency and it has expired.
- You are on or have completed probation or parole.
You must include 1 of these documents with your passport application:
- A discharge notice from your probation officer
- A letter of termination from your probation officer
- A court order ending your supervised probation or parole
Request the return of your valid U.S. passport
Follow the steps to request the return of your passport if:
- Your passport was sent to us by a court or law enforcement agency and has not expired.
- You are on or have completed probation or parole. ·
- We cannot return your passport if it was revoked, expired, or you reported it lost or stolen.
