There are over 7,000 acceptance facilities. These locations:

• Include post offices, clerks of court, public libraries, and other local government offices.
• Are searchable by city, state, and zipcode.
• May have appointments.
• Accept Form DS-11 applications for first-time customers and all children. They do not accept Form DS-82 or Form DS-5504 which you can mail to us. 
• Offer routine or expedited service.
• Charge an extra fee, known as an execution fee. 
• Do not offer service faster than expedited processing. 
• May host special passport fairs on evenings and weekends.

Mail your application to us if you are renewing your passport, or changing or correcting your current passport.

When mailing your application, keep in mind:

• You can select routine or expedited service.
• Do not mail your application if you are traveling urgently.   
• Postal employees should never review your application when you renew by mail or change your passport. 

Our passport agencies and centers:

• Help customers who have urgent international travel within 14 calendar days, or need a foreign visa within 28 calendar days.
• Are operated by the U.S. Department of State
• Accept all passport forms
• Require an extra $60 expedited fee
• Require appointments
