Togo – Foreign Authorization – Requirements and Procedure

To support the viability of intercountry adoption as an option for permanency for children in Togo, the Office of Children’s Issues and the U.S. Embassy in Lomé sought information from the Togolese Central Authority regarding its legal requirements for the authorization of adoption service providers (ASP), pursuant to Article 12 of the Hague Adoption Convention.

Togo ratified the Convention on October 12, 2009, and it entered into force on February 1, 2010.

U.S. ASPs interested in providing intercountry adoption services in Togo should contact the Comite Nationale D’Adoption D’Enfants Au Togo directly as they are still formalizing their procedures, including those related to authorization under Article 12 of the Convention.
