On March 22, 2019, the Government of Sierra Leone informed the Department it has temporarily suspended the processing of all new intercountry adoption cases until at least April 30, 2019, pending an internal review of its current process and the implementation of new adoption procedures and policies.
Adoptive parents with adoptions already in process should communicate with their adoption service providers regarding their cases.
