Kazakhstan Update

The Department of State received the following information from the Government of Kazakhstan.

“The Committee for the Protection of Children’s Rights of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan according to paragraph 7 of Article 112 of the Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Marriage (Matrimony) and family” accredited Adoption Center (USA) “The Cradle of Hope”, the Center will carry out adoption activities on the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan for one year….”

Separately, the Government of Kazakhstan’s Central Authority for intercountry adoptions, the Ministry of Education and Science, has advised us that the suspension of adoptions by U.S. citizens has not been lifted. 

The Office of Children’s Issues and the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan have requested clarification from the Government of Kazakhstan’s Central Authority and will provide updates as they become available.
