GHANA - Authorization Requirements for ASPs - 2018 Governing Regulations

Last Updated: February 25, 2021

We have received a few inquiries from adoption service providers concerning the authorization process to provide adoption services in Ghana. Ghana has not passed any new law or regulation related to intercountry adoption, but continues to implement the Children’s Amendment Act 2016 (937) and the Adoption Regulations 2018 (L.I. 2360). Enclosed is a copy of Ghana's Adoption Regulations 2018 L.I. 2360 detailing the requirements for authorization.

We encourage ASPs interested in providing adoption services in Ghana to reach out to Ghanaian Central Authority for more information on its authorization procedures. You may find the contact information for the Central Authority on the country-specific page, under the “Contact Information” tab.

Please continue to monitor adoption.state.gov for updated information on intercountry adoption in Ghana.

Sincerely,

The Office of Children’s Issues
U.S. Department of State
