Status of U.S. Embassy in Port-au-Prince

The U.S. Embassy remains open and is providing emergency services. The U.S. government is not arranging departures for U.S. citizens and family members from Haiti at this time. U.S. citizens in Haiti in need of emergency services should email embassy Port-au-Prince at acspap@state.gov. U.S. citizens seeking U.S. government assistance to depart should complete the online intake form and we will communicate with you by e-mail if options become available in the coming weeks.

 Potential Departure Options via Commercial Air:

The airports in Cap-Haitien and Les Cayes are open and have resumed limited commercial flight activity. The security situation in Haiti is unpredictable and dangerous. Travel within Haiti is conducted at your own risk. The U.S. government cannot guarantee your safety traveling to airports, borders, or during any onward travel.  You should consider your personal security situation before traveling anywhere in Haiti. Only attempt to depart Haiti or travel within Haiti if you believe it is safe for you to do so.
 
Potential Departure Option through Land Border with the Dominican Republic:
 
The Dominican Republic has indicated they will allow U.S. citizens to enter the Dominican Republic through a land border with a valid U.S. passport. U.S. citizens should assess their own safety and security when deciding whether to travel by road in Haiti. 
 
The U.S. government cannot help U.S. citizens to cross the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic. Dominican Republic immigration officials have final authority to decide who may enter the Dominican Republic. 
 
U.S. citizens who cross into the Dominican Republic at an unofficial crossing may face significant immigration fines when attempting to depart from the Dominican Republic. The security situation in Haiti is unpredictable and dangerous. Travel within Haiti is conducted at your own risk.  The U.S. government cannot guarantee your safety traveling to airports, borders, or during any onward travel.
