Message to Adoption Community

Over the past 15 years, U.S. families have welcomed over 250,000 adopted children into their homes, from over 100 different countries.  The Department of State supports intercountry adoption and is committed to ensuring that intercountry adoptions are conducted in a manner that protects children, birth parents, and adoptive parents and helps eligible children find permanent homes with loving families.

We continue to focus on the need for permanency in children’s lives, as well as the important role that intercountry adoptions plays for children who cannot find loving and permanent families in their countries of birth. We also want to recognize the roles and solicit the views of all intercountry adoption stakeholders. Whether you are an adult adoptee, a birth parent, an adoptive family member, an adoption service provider, an organization providing post-adoption services and/or support, or any number of other committed individuals or organizations engaged on the important issue of intercountry adoption, we wish to increase our communication with you.

We welcome your thoughts, ideas, experiences, and ask that you consider joining our conversation on intercountry adoption by participating in our outreach activities, including our public quarterly stakeholder calls. We also invite you to stay in touch with us directly via email.

We hope you will become a part of our community. Consider adding your contact information to our mailing list by writing to us at AdoptionUSCA@state.gov.  Thank you!
