Documents

Birth, Marriage, Divorce and Death Certificates

Available. Certificates of birth, adoption, death, marriage and divorce may be obtained from the Civil Registrar's Office of the individual island of the Netherlands Antilles. A fee may be charged for these services.

Police, Prison, and Court Records

A police clearance letter, called a "Declaration Of Good Conduct", (the local equivalent of a No Felony Convictions Letter) can be requested by obtaining proof of local residency at the Civil Registrar's Office (CRO). This document, together with a filled-out preprinted form stating reason for the request, must be submitted at the Police Administrative Office at the De Ruyterkade 50, Willemstad, Curaçao Tel. 599-9-465-8563. Processing takes two to three weeks. Fees: NAF .5.00 (2.80 USD) for proof of local residency and NAF .1.00 (.56 USD) for the "No Felony Convictions" letter. Only those who have or ever had a residency or work permit are registered with the CRO. If the applicant is not or never was registered with the CRO in the past, requests cannot be processed. The Police Department's Immigration Division has records of all persons arriving through official ports of entry.

Military Records

Available, from the Netherlands only, concerning applicants who served there (see Netherlands.

The military record of an Antillean conscript can be supplied if a declaration signed by the person concerned is submitted stating there is no objection to the record being given to a third party. These data are available from Militaire Zaken, Breedestraat 126(0), Willemstad, Curacao, N.A.
