UAA Effective from July 14, 2014
Today, the Intercountry Adoption Universal Accreditation Act of 2012 (UAA) becomes effective. The UAA extends the accreditation and approval requirements for adoption service providers (ASPs) in the Intercountry Adoption Act of 2000 to non-Convention intercountry adoptions. For more information about the UAA and its benefits to families adopting in non-Convention countries, see the following link to the UAA information page of adoption.state.gov.
Request for Questions and Comments: The Department and USCIS invite ASPs and adoptive families to share questions and concerns about the application of the UAA in their intercountry adoption cases during this first week following its effective date. Please email your questions to email@example.com by Friday, July 18th.
